WOODBRIDGE - A 66-year-old man was killed after being hit by a small truck while trying to cross Route 1 in Woodbridge, just south of the Route 9 merge Friday.

Woodbridge police have not released the man's name, but they say he was coming from the ShopRite and was nowhere near a crosswalk.

The accident happened just before 2 p.m. The northbound lanes of Route 1 were closed for a time while police investigated the incident.

Anyone who may have witnessed the accident is asked to call Woodbridge police at 732-634-7700.
