60-year-old man gunned down during apparent robbery in Plainfield

A man was gunned down in Plainfield in an apparent robbery early Thursday morning, according to the Union County Prosecutor’s Office.

PLAINFIELD - A man was gunned down in Plainfield in an apparent robbery late Thursday night, according to the Union County Prosecutor’s Office.

Officials say that 60-year-old Frank Drayton was sitting on his rear porch on the 700 block of West Fourth Street when he was approached by a suspect. That suspect brandished a pistol, demanded money and then shot Drayton after an exchange of words.

The suspect fled the scene on foot.

Officials did not provide a description of the suspect.

The Union County Crime Stoppers are offering a reward of up to $10,000 for information leading to an arrest and indictment in this case.

Anyone who might have any information about the murder is urged to contact Homicide Task Force Sgt. Jose Vendas at 908-358-3048.
