CARLSTADT - More than $500,000 in stolen jewelry has been recovered after four men stole it from the owners in a hotel parking lot.

The owners were in town for a jewelry convention Saturday night and had $650,000 in gold in a backpack, according to Carlstadt police.

Investigators say the owners were targeted by the gang. "We believe they followed them and picked them up at the jewelry show," says Sgt. Dave Smith.

Three of the four suspects were pulled over for a traffic stop in South Carolina, where the jewelry was recovered.

They are charged with possession of stolen goods in South Carolina.
