$500K in jewelry stolen in New Jersey recovered during South Carolina traffic stop
CARLSTADT - More than $500,000 in stolen jewelry has been recovered after four men stole it from the owners in a hotel parking lot.
The owners were in town for a jewelry convention Saturday night and had $650,000 in gold in a backpack, according to Carlstadt police.
Investigators say the owners were targeted by the gang. "We believe they followed them and picked them up at the jewelry show," says Sgt. Dave Smith.
