FRANKLIN TOWNSHIP - A Franklin Township man with multiple sclerosis who was convicted of growing marijuana has failed to get an appeals court to overturn his five-year prison sentence.

John Ray Wilson argued he was barred from telling a jury about his medical condition, which he says he was treating with marijuana. Wilson also said he would suffer in prison because of his health.

Judges ruled yesterday that Wilson wasn't entitled to use his condition as a defense and could get proper medical treatment in prison. He was convicted in 2009 of manufacturing marijuana after a National Guard helicopter spotted marijuana plants in his yard.
