NEWARK - Five teenagers face numerous charges stemming from an alleged carjacking and police pursuit in Newark that left another suspect dead.
Essex County prosecutors announced Wednesday that the youths, who range in age from 14 to 17, are charged with receiving stolen property and weapons offenses. One of them also was charged with carjacking.
Prosecutors say the carjacking occurred around 6:40 a.m. Tuesday. They believe the vehicle was used in a series of other felonies that day, including robberies and shootings.
