5 injured in South Hackensack motel fire

SOUTH HACKENSACK - Authorities say a motel guest, two firefighters and two police officers were injured in a South Hackensack motel fire.

The three-alarm blaze at the Super 8 in South Hackensack broke out around 7:15 a.m. Tuesday and spread to several rooms on the second floor. It took firefighters from several surrounding towns about an hour to get the fire under control.

Officials said two police officers, who were helping evacuate the building, were treated for smoke inhalation. One firefighter slipped and another was treated for exhaustion.

One guest suffered burns, authorities said. Remaining guests were moved to a nearby hotel.
