NEWARK - Nearly 50 people have been arrested in connection to an alleged large scale drug operation.
Investigators say the drug ring was operated by members of the 793 set of the Bloods street gang in Essex County. The bust netted over $30,000 in cash, a variety of drugs worth $10,000, as well as several firearms.
Eleven suspects are still at large, according to the Essex County Prosecutor's Office.

"This multi-month investigation has centered on violence, drugs and murder," says Acting Essex County Prosecutor Carolyn Murray.
Of the 48 people arrested in the operation, one was also wanted for the murder of John Betances, who was shot and killed on South 18th Street in Newark in May.
Murray says more charges could be pending.
