HILLSIDE - Four officers of the Hillside Police Department are being laid off today as part of a budget tightening measure, according to township officials.

The department lost eight police officers and two civilian dispatchers through attrition, according to a news release on the department's website.

Police Chief Robert Quinlin says he is hoping for a last minute deal between the mayor, City Council and police unions.
