A Somerset County town has disciplined four volunteer firefighters who went to the Jersey Shore after Hurricane Sandy.
The four temporarily assisted the East Dover Fire Company in Toms River.
However, Manville emergency management coordinator Ken Otrimski tells the Courier News that firefighters are not supposed to self-deploy during a state of emergency. Otrimski says town officials need to know where they are.
Gary Barras says he was expelled from Manville's North End Volunteer Fire Co. 3 for aiding his former hometown. Barras says he was told he could go as long as he didn't use any Manville fire equipment.
