UNION TOWNSHIP - The holiday season is looking bleak for many police officers laid off across the Garden State, but four former Newark cops have been given another opportunity.

The former members of the Newark Police Department, who live in Union Township, have been offered positions with their town.

Police Director Dan Zieser says he felt like Santa Claus, while describing the reaction of one of the four men who was offered a job.

The men will be sworn in as Union Township officers at the start of a committee meeting tomorrow night.
