4 firefighters suffer minor injuries in 4-alarm fire in Elizabeth

Four firefighters were injured as crews battled a four-alarm fire at a special-needs adult home on East Jersey Street in Elizabeth.

ELIZABETH - Four firefighters were injured as crews battled a four-alarm fire at a special-needs adult home on East Jersey Street in Elizabeth.

Two firefighters were treated for smoke inhalation and two for burns. All the injuries were not considered to be life-threatening.

All of the residents escaped the home unharmed.

The fire was reported at approximately 3:30 p.m. Firefighters from neighboring towns were called in to help douse the flames.

Flames from the multi-story building damaged five adjacent buildings.
