JERSEY CITY - Four firefighters were injured during an overnight fire in Jersey City.

Officials say the fire started just after 12 a.m. at 22 Clinton Ave.

They say firefighters battled heavy flames on the top floor of a three-story residential building, but were able to get the fire under control quickly.

All the firefighters were transported to Jersey City Medical Center-Barnabas Health for injuries that are not considered life-threatening.

Officials say one firefighter sustained a broken finger, a second firefighter sustained a sprained knee and ankle, another sustained neck and back injuries, and the fourth sustained shoulder and elbow injuries.

The American Red Cross is assisting the five adults and one child that live in the building.
