PATERSON - Dozens of residents have been left without a home after an early morning fire in Paterson.

Paterson Fire Department Deputy Chief Joseph Murray says 37 people were displaced as a result of the blaze.

Officials say the fire started just before 2 a.m. in two apartment buildings between Grand and Main streets. The fire quickly spread to another two buildings before firefighters were able to get it under control.

No injuries have been reported but several tenants had to be rescued. Investigators believe the fire began in the back of one of the buildings.
