NEW BRUNSWICK - New Brunswick and Rutgers police have stepped up patrols after three robberies this weekend.
Officials say the robberies occurred between 1 a.m. and 3 am. Saturday morning.
They say two of the incidents involved students who were held up at gunpoint. One of the incidents occurred at the intersection of Nichol and Handy, across the street from the Cook campus.
About an hour and half before that armed robbery, another student was as held up by two suspects.
A third incident involved a person who was robbed by a man on Mine Street.
Police are warning residents that if they are out at night to walk in groups, and to be aware of their surroundings. Rutgers police say that police will provide escorts to students and university staff if requested.
Rutgers police are also investigating a robbery last week on campus. It happened near the university greenhouses, not far from one of the armed robberies this weekend.
There is no word if any of the incidents are related.
