PERTH AMBOY - Three middle school students are being hailed as heroes in Perth Amboy after finding a lost toddler.

The seventh- and eigth-grade students from William McGinnis School were walking home from school yesterday when they found a lost and wandering toddler. The 14-month-old girl was bleeding from the face and seemed like she had fallen.

One of the students scooped the little girl into their arms, and the middle school students signaled a crossing guard to call for help.

The students, eighth-graders Dannie Canela and Christopher Angeles, and seventh-grader, Angelina Moreta, were honored in a special presentation during an assembly at their school today to honor them for their quick-thinking actions and bravery.

The little girl had been staying with her grandmother, who says she was distracted by her other two grandchildren for a moment when the little girl vanished.

The toddler has since been reunited with her family.
