Police are investigating the first incident as a possible drive-by shooting, but it's unclear if the victims were the intended targets. Police are looking for a black Jeep Cherokee that fled that scene.

Gunfire rang out again after 9 p.m. near Avon Avenue and 12th Street, killing one person and possibly injuring others.

Police have not said if the shootings are related. Both are being investigated by Essex County prosecutors.
