NEWARK - The Essex County Prosecutor's Office announced today that three people were killed in four separate shootings overnight in Newark.

Authorities say the shootings happened within a 45-minute period just after midnight.

The first shooting happened on Columbia Avenue where two people were hit and one was killed.

The victim that died has been identified as Katrina Owens, a 37-year-old corrections officer from the Monmouth Junction section of South Brunswick. Acting Newark Police Director Samuel DeMaio said Owens was shot by a man with whom she was in a relationship.

Investigators say two men were killed in unrelated shootings in other parts of the city within a half-hour after Owens' death.

Authorities say Shawn Miller, 20, of Newark was fatally shot in the 100 block of Elizabeth Avenue in Newark at a housing complex where he lived.

Marquis Robinson, 24, of Newark was fatally shot on his front porch in the 300 block of Osborne Terrace in the third shooting of the night, according to officials. They say a woman, whose name has not yet been released, was also shot at the scene. She remains in critical condition at University Hospital.

Police believe both of those shootings were drug-related.

Officials say another victim walked into Beth Israel hospital saying he'd been shot. Authorities have not said how or where the victim was shot.
