NEWARK - Three young children were rescued today when a fire broke out in their Newark apartment.

The fire broke out at the New Community complex on Hunterdon Street.

Neighbors tell News 12 that the children, each under the age of 10, were home alone when they found themselves trapped on the second floor.

Fire officials confirm firefighters were able to hold back the flames on the first floor and pull out the children upstairs.

No injuries were reported.
