3 buildings in Hopatcong tagged with graffiti

HOPATCONG - Three different schools in Hopatcong were spray painted with graffiti this weekend.

Officials say the affected schools were Tulsa Trail Elementary School, Hopatcong Middle School and Hopatcong High School, where an American flag mural was targeted. Superintendent Charles Maranzo says that the graffiti "is a slap in the face to the good kids in Hopatcong."

Maranzo says he hopes to teach those who tagged the schools a lesson, he just has to find them first.

School administrators are working with police, but aren't leaving it all to law enforcement. They are also taking things into their own hands, and asking students to help figure out who did this.

The superintendent hopes to have the graffiti cleaned up and the American flag mural fixed by the end of the week.
