3-alarm fire destroys Carteret home

A three-alarm fire destroyed a three-story home this morning in Carteret.More than 50 firefighters were called in to fight the blaze at 305 Washington Ave.

CARTERET - A three-alarm fire destroyed a three-story home this morning in Carteret.

More than 50 firefighters were called in to fight the blaze at 305 Washington Ave. Fire officials say no one was inside the home when the flames broke out, but they believe the fire started in the basement.

The flames and smoke also damaged an adjacent home.

Investigators are working to determine what caused the fire. No injuries were reported.
