NEW BRUNSWICK - A fast-moving, three-alarm fire damaged several homes in New Brunswick this morning.

New Brunswick Fire Director Robert Rawls said the fire broke out in a home on Suydam Street at around 5 a.m. The severe heat and flames damaged at least two other homes.

One firefighter suffered a hand injury while fighting the blaze, Rawls said.

The Red Cross says it is assisting 22 people from two homes which were evacuated as a result of the blaze.
