25 arrested across NJ in child porn investigation (2/27/13)

HAMILTON - State law enforcement officials have announced the arrests of 24 men and one juvenile in an investigation into the distribution of child pornography.

State officials said at a news conference today that each of the men arrested was found with multiple sexually explicit videos of young children and made them available to others.

The arrests took place from Feb. 18-22 and occurred in more than 10 counties. The juvenile is identified as a 17-year-old from Cherry Hill.

Authorities say the seized videos show both boys and girls. They were distributed through emails and file sharing networks. Officials say five of those arrested had direct contact with young children, including two who were regular baby sitters.

The investigation, dubbed ‘Operation Ever Vigilant,’ began three months ago with police using digital fingerprints to track the sexually explicit photos and videos.

New Jersey Attorney General Jeffrey Chiesa called the material “the torture of innocent children.”

Each man is charged with second-degree distribution of child porn and fourth-degree possession of child porn.
