FAIRFIELD - Authorities say a downed electrical wire is to blame for a fire that damaged more than a dozen vehicles Wednesday morning.

The fire happened at the Skyline Auto Auction on Route 46 in Fairfield just before 8 a.m.

Fairfield Police Chief Anthony Manna says the electrically charged wires of the transformer came down on several vehicles. He says about 20 cars were damaged to varying degrees. No injuries were reported.

The fire was brought under control by 9 a.m.
