PERTH AMBOY - Two bridge workers were rescued after they found themselves dangling dozens of feet from the ground Wednesday.
Officials say an equipment failure under the Route 35/Victory Bridge in Perth Amboy caused part of an under bridge inspection vehicle to come apart around 11:30 a.m.
The bucket carrying two DOT contractors fell about 30 feet in seconds.
The two men were not injured, but were stuck hanging for about 30 minutes, until Perth Amboy firefighters used a ladder truck to reach the men from below.
The workers were conducting a bi-annual inspection of the bridge.
