2 stabbed in Forked River

FORKED RIVER - An Ocean County man is under arrest today after police say he stabbed a couple in their Forked River home early this morning.

Prosecutors say Joseph Dougherty stabbed 28-year-old Sean Stover several times.  Ashley Henlock, 27, who lives with Stover, was also stabbed, according to prosecutors.

Police say after he stabbed the couple, Dougherty took off in a pickup truck and lead police on a chase. Dougherty hit a utility pole near Kennebec Road and Cypress Street and began running on foot before police apprehended him, according to witnesses.

Both victims were taken to a hospital where Henlock is listed in stable condition and Stover in critical condition.
