PATERSON - Two severely malnourished dogs were found abandoned early this morning at a Paterson park.
The pit bull mixes should weigh around 50 pounds, but they only weigh around 15 pounds each. The dogs' rib cages are clearly visible.
An animal control officer says the dogs were discovered at around 5 a.m. by a passing jogger, who called police.

The animals are likely brother and sister. The male is so frail he can barely stand and cannot walk.
"These dogs are about five months old," says Paterson Animal Control Officer John Decando. "They were thrown away like yesterday's garbage."
The dogs are being taken to a veterinary center for treatment. They will be available for adoption once they are fully rehabilitated. Interested parties can contact the Second Chance Adoption Agency at 973-208-1054.
An animal rescue group has donated a $1,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest and conviction in the case.
