BLOOMINGDALE - Two people were seriously injured and 15 residents were displaced after an early morning apartment fire in Bloomingdale.

Fire officials say the two-story Mountaintop Estates apartment complex on Forest Drive was fully engulfed when rescuers arrived and firefighters were still putting out hotspots two hours later.

According to published reports, a resident saw 32-year-old Brian Timony and 30-year-old Monica Linares running through the flames with their hair on fire.

Both victims were flown by medical helicopter to the burn unit at St. Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston.

Officials believe other units in the eight-apartment complex sustained smoke and water damage.

Residents will not be allowed back to their homes for five days.
