TRENTON - Two rabbis are among 10 men who appeared in federal court Thursday, charged in a religious divorce plot.
The FBI says the men plotted to kidnap the husband of an undercover cop to force him to grant a religious divorce. Eight of the suspects were arrested at a Middlesex County warehouse where the victim was supposed to be tortured.
The suspects allegedly charged families up to $50,000 to intimidate husbands into agreeing to get divorces.

Under Jewish law, a woman may not file for divorce in the religious court unless her husband agrees.
As part of the investigation, the FBI also raided a Yeshiva in Rockland County. Investigators say it's where a lot of the meeting and planning happened.
All 10 suspects have been denied bail. The next hearing is scheduled for Friday.
