MENDHAM - Two Mendham Township police officers were injured after a crash with a tractor-trailer in Morris County.

The accident happened around 8 p.m. along Corey Lane and Route 24 in Mendham Township. The roads in the area immediately surrounding the accident were closed while officials investigated the crash.

Rescue crews had to cut the officers out of the cruiser because it was badly damaged.

They were taken to Morristown Memorial Hospital to be treated for injuries that are not considered to be life threatening.

Chief Steven Crawford tells News 12 New Jersey that both officers are awake and in stable condition.

The driver of the truck was not injured.

The Mendham Township Police Department and Morris County Prosecutor’s Office are investigating the accident.
