ASBURY PARK - One man is dead and another is recovering after they were shot Thursday night, according to Monmouth County prosecutors.

An Asbury Park police officer responded to the scene at the corner of Mattison and DeWitt avenues after hearing shots fired at 7:22 p.m. and located the two victims. They were taken to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune for treatment.

Orlando Rowe, 30, of Bridgeport, Conn., was pronounced dead. Daquin Calhoun, 23, of Freehold, had multiple gunshot wounds, but is in stable condition.

The incident is still under investigation.

Neighbors say they area has struggled with gang violence. Police have not said if they believe the incident is gang-related.
