2 injured when roof collapses on vacant Newark home

NEWARK - The roof of a home under construction collapsed Monday, injuring two workers.

Police and fire crews were called to the home on Montclair Avenue just before 6 p.m. The two men who had been working on the vacant home were able to escape the structure on their own. Their injuries are not considered life-threatening.

The home next door was evacuated as a precaution while the Newark Fire and Engineering Departments secured the scene.
