2 dead in Woodland Park blaze

WOODLAND PARK - An overnight blaze claimed the lives of two people in Woodland Park.

Police say the fire broke out in a home on Overmount Avenue just after midnight. Firefighters rescued two victims, both in their 70s, from the home. There were taken to St. Joseph’s Hospital where they were pronounced dead.

The fire was brought under control and investigators determined the fire sparked in the basement of the home.

Firefighters from Little Falls, Totowa, Clifton and Paterson were called in to help fight the flames.
