CLINTON TOWNSHIP - Two schools in Clinton Township have tested positive for radon, prompting action by district officials.

The chemical element that has been linked to lung cancer has been found in Clinton Township Middle School and the Spruce Run School. Both tested above what the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) considers to be "action level." The superintendent says that the schools' radon ratings, which are between 4 and 11, are still well below the 100 rating that would require relocating.

The school district is holding a meeting Wednesday night to discuss the report and answer any questions parents may have. Parents News 12 New Jersey spoke to seem pleased with how the situation is being handled so far.

The superintendent hopes to have the levels back down and the schools retested within a month.
