18-year-old shot, killed in Newark

NEWARK - A teenager has been shot and killed in Newark.

The Essex County Prosecutor's Office says the shooting happened Sunday evening.

Authorities say police officers who were on routine patrol heard gunshots. When they arrived on the scene they found 18-year-old Daquill Grant unresponsive, suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.

Grant, of Union, was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

No arrests have been made.

It's unclear what led to the shooting.

The investigation is ongoing.
