Authorities have released the name of a 17-year-old who died after being shot in Jersey City.

JERSEY CITY - Authorities have released the name of a 17-year-old who died after being shot in Jersey City Tuesday.

Rondell Rush was shot in the head near the intersection of Fulton Avenue and Martin Luther King Drive. He died at the hospital Wednesday.

Rush was an AP high school student. His fellow classmates say that they were shocked to hear the news of his death.

"Everyone was just really sad by the event that took place,” one student told News 12 New Jersey. "Teachers were really sad, you could really just feel the sadness in the building."

A chief with the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office tells News 12 that no motive has been identified.

Authorities are awaiting results of an autopsy and no arrests have been made.
