15 animals rescued from Monmouth County home

MILLSTONE TOWNSHIP - Animal control officers in Monmouth County rescued 15 animals from what they are calling a "house of horrors."

Officials say three people have been charged with multiple counts of animal cruelty. They say four adults lived at the Millstone ranch, along with eight dogs and five cats.

An officer initially came to the property after a caller complained about conditions for the horse in the front yard. The SPCA says it found nothing wrong with the horse, but that a foul odor coming from the inside the house led them to the real problem. The family insists that the pets were perfectly healthy and that the SPCA had no right entering their home. Officials say four of the cats are on antibiotics at the SPCA in Eatontown for respiratory infections.
