13 injured in natural gas explosion at Williams Gas Pipeline facility in Branchburg

BRANCHBURG - At least 13 people were injured in an explosion at a natural gas plant in Branchburg Thursday.

Emergency crews were called to the Williams Gas Pipeline facility at approximately 7:30 p.m. The company is a supplier of natural gas.

Several of the injured were treated on scene, but at least two were taken to a hospital with more serious injuries.

Mayor Jim Leonard is calling on the state Board of Public Utility to investigate the incident and make sure that the plant is in compliance with local regulations.
