CHATHAM - Saint Hubert's Animal Welfare Center in Chatham took in 107 dogs displaced by the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico.
Many of the dogs' owners lost their jobs as a result of the spill and can't afford to keep their pets.
The Humane Society arranged for the dogs to be transported from New Orleans. The dogs will be seen by a veterinarian and given baths.
About a dozen animal shelters around New Jersey will house the pets until they can find homes.
