1 killed, 2 injured in Middletown Township accident

MIDDLETOWN TOWNSHIP - An 18-year-old student at Middletown High School North was killed in a car accident early yesterday morning. Paul Bradley, of Middletown Township, was killed in the crash. His two friends in the car with him, Adam Sofio and John Vogel, remain hospitalized in serious condition.

Authorities say his friend lost control of his 1992 Acura on Cooper Road in Middletown shortly after 2 a.m. The car veered into someone's front yard, smashing into a tree and splitting the car in half.

Grief counselors were on hand throughout the school day for students who needed to talk.

Police say seat belts were worn by some occupants, but it's unclear which ones.

The prosecutor's office tells News 12 New Jersey that alcohol and speed are the focus of its investigation. Two other people were killed in separate accidents.
