1 dead in Toms River fire on South Main Street

TOMS RIVER - One person is dead after a massive fire broke out at a house in Toms River.

The fire broke out in a ranch-style house on South Main Street at around 5:30 p.m. Monday. Firefighters say the flames were concentrated in the basement, where the victim was found. The victim hasn't been identified, but neighbors say a woman was killed.

Six firefighters were also taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
