1 dead in overnight crash on GSP

WOODBRIDGE - A fatal accident shut down a section of the Garden State Parkway for hours overnight.

The accident happened just before 11 p.m. yesterday near Exit 131A in Woodbridge.

According to state police, Ahmed Faraz, 19, of Parlin, was driving a white Honda Civic southbound in the center lane at a high-rate of speed when he lost control of the vehicle and struck a guardrail. Faraz was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.

Elizabeth Tanzi, of Wanamassa, was taken to a nearby hospital after her car was struck by Faraz's vehicle.
