Police say Werner attacked an acquaintance outside of a Dunkin' Donuts after a brief exchange.

Debbie Roon, an eyewitness who works in the area, said that Werner fatally stabbed the man in the back. She says an older man then jumped in to help and was sliced across his back.

Officer David Struss, who was in the area, brought Werner to the ground and handcuffed him. He is being charged with murder, attempted murder, aggravated assault and weapons charges.

Authorities say 67-year-old Paul Baker, of Clifton, died from his injuries. Clarence Wispelwey, 80, was hospitalized in serious but stable condition.
