Newark will disperse federal funds to city residents who need the money to pay their rent.

Mayor Ras Baraka has divided the money for families impacted by the coronavirus pandemic.

People who qualify can get up to $1,000.

The city's Housing Authority have approved 400 grants so far. The grants are worth a total of $265,000.

The rest are expected to be given out before the end of June.
