Two New Jersey cities rank in the top 10 of “hardest working” cities in America, according to a study by Wallet Hub.
Jersey City ranked No. 3 on the list, while Newark ranked No. 9. The study ranked cities by the average number of hours each worker logged in a week, the percentage of people with two jobs and a range of other factors. The study also factored in volunteer work.
News 12 New Jersey spoke with several residents on their way to work Monday who agreed with the assessment.
“We are try to make a living,” says one resident.
“Most of the people are hardworking, but there's a social economic problem,” says a University Hospital worker who identified herself as Mama Zula. “It's based on not enough jobs for the people who really need them. The young people.
Columbia, South Carolina ranked last on the list at No. 116.
More information about the study can be found on Wallet Hub's website.
