New speed bump in Park Slope gets mixed reviews
A new speed bump in Park Slope that’s aimed at slowing down traffic is causing confusion among some drivers.
The rubber speed bump aims to slow drivers who are turning onto Union Street.
The Department of Transportation says it's safe to both drive on or around the rubber speed bump, which was installed last Tuesday.
The DOT says its purpose is to improve pedestrian safety by calming traffic and slowing down right turns. So far, however, the new safety feature is getting mixed reviews along the busy corridor which leads to Grand Army Plaza.
Some pedestrians told News 12 they were grateful for any safety improvement feature, while some drivers said it's a traffic headache.
The DOT says it has already seen great results from the speed bump, both in terms of durability and reducing speed.
