A board of education in Princeton is discussing a new name for a middle school after it was discovered the person the school was named after owned slaves.

A board of education in Princeton is discussing a new name for a middle school after it was discovered the person the school was named after owned slaves.
John Witherspoon Middle School is now temporarily named Princeton Unified Middle School.
It's been recommended the new name be non-person specific.
Students, as well as the public, have been taking part in polls. The public was part the conversation at Tuesday night’s public meeting.
The board plans to vote on a new name June 15.
