New Jersey residents battle higher cost of living
With gas, electricity and now possibly toll prices going up, Garden State residents are finding it tougher to make ends meet.
People across New Jersey are dealing with the increasing cost of living. Financial experts advise residents to make and stick to a budget. Residents say they?re also utilizing some old-fashioned, money-saving techniques.
As gas prices shoot through the roof and the state debates increasing tolls on some of its major roadways, commuting to work in carpools is an increasingly attractive option for residents looking to curb costs.
?I try to do a carpool with one of the girls at work,? says Linden resident Phyllis Meola. ?You know, trying to stretch that out for both of us ... we live nearby, so we can save a little on gas and tolls."
Others are clipping coupons and keeping circulars handy to battle higher prices on items like milk at the supermarket.
