A charity founded in response to the coronavirus pandemic is helping to feed the hungry and support local restaurants in Asbury Park.
Singer-songwriter Sean Tobin says that he wanted to help the community that supports his art. Over the weekend he organized a Facebook Live concert featuring local artists. He called it “At Home Fest,” and it raised around $2,000 for the charity Asbury Park Dinner Table – an organization co-founded by Julie Andreola.
“A lot of people were getting laid off. Restaurants were unsure what their revenue was going to be. So, we’re sitting here brainstorming, ‘How can we help our neighbors,'” Andreola says.
Asbury Park Dinner Table provides money to 15 participating restaurants to make meals for those in need, with as many as 400 meals a day.

The packaged meals can be picked up at the Second Baptist Church, St. Stephen AME Zion Church, United Fellowship Baptist Church and the Boys and Girls Club. The meals can be picked up between 5:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. every day.
Other fundraisers for Asbury Park Dinner Table include an online yoga class and a Sunday-Funday challenge. The charity says that events bring in several thousand dollars.
