More Netflix productions may be coming to New Jersey.
The media streaming service says that it is planning to submit a bid for the former Army base. If that bid is successful, the plan would be to build a production studio there.
Netflix is no stranger to filming in the Garden State. The Zach Snyder film “Army of the Dead” was filmed in Atlantic City.
If Netflix does come to New Jersey, it would be the latest in a growing list of film and television productions taking place in the state.
“New Jersey is not only the birthplace of our industry, it’s also home for many talented people who work in entertainment. [Gov. Phil] Murphy and the state’s legislative leaders have created a business environment that has welcomed film and television production back to New Jersey, and we’re looking forward to submitting our offer to transform Fort Monmouth into a state-of-the-art production facility,” a Netflix spokesperson said in a statement.
New Jersey’s film and television industry has increased over the years, and productions have restarted following a COVID-19 delay.
