Residents in New Jersey are being targeted with fake text messages claiming to be from the New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission, saying they have to update their driver’s license.
It’s fake, according to MVC officials.
The messages claim to be from the Department of Transportation or State Motor Vehicle Commission, but it isn't.
The messages contain language such as, "Please update your Driver License to date, this was instructed by the Motor Vehicle Commission of the New Jersey, please click here to get started now."
When clicked, malicious links direct users to a spoofed website impersonating New Jersey's MyMVC site.
It's a phishing scam. Don't click on the link provided.
